Hi, everyone! Welcome to Behind the Curtain, your behind-the-scenes look at what we're up to here at CHS Theatre Arts! Throughout the season, we'll be keeping you all updated here on what's happening with our program, our students, and our community.
We officially kicked off our 2018–2019 season with our Reveal Party in mid-August, where we announced the titles of our two full productions (The Great Gatsby in November, and Footloose in March), our mid-season show, Stages, and our two fundraiser shows, BOOgeyBash! and Princess Power. We also announced the first-annual Carlisle High School Fine Arts Festival in late spring, where all of the artistic disciplines available for our students at CHS will be on exhibition for the entire community. We would also like to talk about our "changing of the guard," in terms of leadership. Beginning in 2014, Leslie Hood and Jenn Shively came together to restart the musical portion of our theatre program, serving as director and music director, respectively. In their four years at CHS Theatre Arts, they helped stage four immensely-successful spring musicals (All Shook Up, White Christmas, Disney's Beauty and the Beast, and Fiddler on the Roof). As a result, interest in musical theatre, and the performing arts as a whole, was reignited within our community, and it has changed the cultural landscape of our village — and, for that, we must thank them. As of 2018, both Mrs. Hood and Mrs. Shively have stepped down from their positions, and the former role has been assumed by Quentin Hammock. We wish these two wonderful ladies the best of luck in their new endeavors. We will miss them! Happy trails! Our work on Gatsby, and our first, Halloween-themed fundraiser event, BOOgeyBash!, is just now getting underway — but, as we get further along in the production cycles, we'll keep you in the loop, and continue to give you exclusive glimpses "behind the curtain!"
